Margate Electronics #10: Modular

Margate Electronics #10: Modular
Live: Loula Yorke, Microcorps, M2C
DJ: Jonas Ransson
Workshop: ALM Busy Circuits

Venue: Margate Arts Club, Margate

This edition focused on modular synthesis, with three distinct artists each taking a different approach to live modular performance.

Loula Yorke is a UK-based composer, sound artist and modular synthesist creating minimal, voltage-driven works that shimmer between playfulness and solemnity. An award-winning performer and educator, she has released acclaimed albums on Truxalis and Castles in Space, with broadcasts on BBC Radio 3 and 6 Music, and performances from Cafe OTO to Tabakalera.

Microcorps is the project of artist and musician Alex Tucker, merging modular electronics, cello, bass and voice into dense, shifting sound worlds. His work explores the hybrid of human and machine through layered drones and rhythms, with collaborations spanning Regis, Justin K Broadrick, Nik Colk Void, Phew and others.

M2Coast (M2C) is the latest project from composer and Raven Bush of Speakers Corner Quartet. Combining strings, modular synthesis and field recording, M2C navigates the friction between acoustic and electronic intonation, an evolving, meditative study of environment and process.
